I hope you had a fantabulous weekend. Mine was filled with food, friends, and double dates. I certainly ate WAAAAAY to much. I'm letting my breakfast digest as we speak so I can go for a run afterwards. Nothing like an early morning workout! Never mind the fact that it's propelled by guilt.
Double Date #1
On Saturday, we were invited to my friends' baby's Baptism. Eva Jade is too adorable for words!
Eva is SO lucky too because her mommy is a Photographer! More specifically, a baby photographer! Check out her site for some cute pictures!! Get ready to awww and ooooo like you've never awww'd and ooooo'd before!
Don't you just LOVE babies. I'm thinking of having my own one day. Mom, I said ONE day! Hold your horses!
Afterwards, Hubs and I went on a double date with our friends Freddy and Christine. We made food babies together....hmm that' didn't sound as funny as it did in my head.
We went to the famous....

Umami Burger in Santa Monica
I apologize in advance for the poor lighting as I didn't want to disturb the fancy rich people around us.
**On a side note**This is my formal review. Check out my California Eats Tab.
This burger joint is pretty famous here in the LA area. All of the celebs come here to indulge in these wonderful burgers. We made friends with the doorman, who we found out later was the manager and he informed us that stars like Tom Hanks, Hilary Swank, and Steven Spielberg fancy this place. He also gave us this inside scoop on who's super nice and who's an ASS not nice. We ONLY saw two celebs, Fred Segal (Fashion Designer) and Billy Baldwin....we didn't ask for autographs.
This isn't your average burger joint, it's definitely something different. The menu is eclectic and does not include the normal burger with lettuce, tomato, and special sauce. This ain't your mama's burger joint.
Orders:
Freddy: Truffle Burger with a side of Tempura Onion Rings
Christine-Truffle Burger with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and Umami Ketchup
Sergio- Triple Pork Burger with a side of House pickles and French Fries with Roasted Garlic Aioli
Muah- Manly Burger with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and Umami Ketchup
It's nice going on double dates where the other couples offer you a bite...that's real friendship people! Sharing is caring. I had a bite of each burger and each one was TO DIE! The beef is so juicy and fresh.
We all ate super slow in fear of having to take that dreaded last bite. I finished last, because
I hate good-byes.
The fries were also incredible. The sweet potato fries were seasoned with cinnamon and brown sugar. I could've eaten those puppies all day. And the dipping sauces were perfect pairings for our sides. The tempura onion rings were also VERY good. It's what you would expect out of the name, but better.
The only thing I didn't care for were the pickles. And I will never put beets in my mouth again...unless I'm craving dirt.
The service was magical, as well. We waited about 30 minutes for our table, which is pretty normal considering it was a Saturday night. But, the manager felt so bad for us he treated us to free ice cream sandwiches! This surprised me because we were laughing and chatting up a storm outside. He sensed we were amazing people I think.
Holy MACAROON SANDWHICHES!!!!
Unfortunately, I only had the vanilla, because Hubs didn't understand the breakdown of the split-age. I was supposed to have half mint and half vanilla and so was he...but he ate both mint. Husband FAIL! I would've caught him, but I was in a state of euphoric bliss eating my vanilla half.
Overall, this place lived up to the hype and is totally blog worthy.
Part 2 coming later!! You won't wanna miss this!
Oh my Joanna, is it not the best burger on earth? You just sit there in awe as you're eating it thinking "why is this the best burger ever?". Also, one is never enough, I've never ordered 2, but one is never enough.
ReplyDeleteThat burger place looks fantastic! I love this whole burger craze that's going on. I can never get enough :) Looks like you had a great weekend!!
