Wandom Wednesday: Winter Recess

1. This week I'm playing Stay at Home Mommy. I am off for a whole week thanks to all the Presidents days. My only goal this week is to make this kid laugh. He's almost giggling and by golly I want to be the one that makes him laugh first. My voice is permanently 15 octaves higher than it used to be and I've invented noises using my throat I never knew existed. Something I do is bound to be funny.

2. It was my husband's 31st birthday last week and all he wanted for his dia especial was to have a date night at Ooka. We asked my parents to babysit and of course they said yes. I felt a little guilty leaving Joaquin so soon but Mommy and Daddy time was very much needed. I was so excited to finally have time with my hubs, sushi, and some wine. Is it just me or does wine taste better when you're a mom?

3. My Nike Fuel Band is magic. It mocks me with it's flashing lights and reminds me to move my butt or I'll be wearing these maternity jeans for-evah. Damn, Fuel Band...why you gotta be so hurtful?

4. I went to the TOMS Sample Sale this past weekend and all I can say is that I wish my feet were a size 10. I went with my buddy Christine, who is in fact a size 10 and while I was only able to find 2 pairs that I actually liked, she was able to find about a million. Did I mention we stood in line for 3 and a half hours? And did I mention that classics were only $20? Why must everyone at the sample sale have a 7 1/2-8 size shoe? WHY!?
At least I scored some cute shoes for my little guy.
5. I'm facing a dilemma. A hair dilemma. Long hair vs. Short hair. I can't decide if I should grow it long or chop it off. Either way, something needs to happen NOW because I can't stand my hair. Growing your hair out is the pits and cutting it will only set me back in that process. What to do? What to do?

These are the many issue I face while on vacation. My zombie mommy brain is delirious.

Weekend Recap: Meeting a Burger I Did Not Like

Well Happy Monday to ya! I think most everyone I know seems to be happy that this week is a short week. Thanksgiving HERE WE COME! But guys, I take that happy cake.... my fellow teachers and I are off for the whole week....I know I know, we are lucky sons of you know whats. I am loving every minute of it!

This weekend was full of new happenings. First up, I got a new do'. It was about time, too. I was starting to look a little crazy lady there. After I snapped this picture, I was so embarrassed with myself. Talk about letting myself go in the scalp! I haven't had a haircut in over a year!
Good job, Joanna for FINALLY getting a haircut...it's boring...but it'll do.
Moving on....

After playing with my hair for most of the day (so soft) hubs and I went on a double date with my Kuya and Katrina. We went to one of my favorite burger joints!
Their burgers are a step up from fast food burgers, but a step down from gourmet burgers. I love their meat and buns. Rawr!

I also appreciate their amazing condiment and produce station! Build it and they will come.
Tell me that these stations aren't awesome opossum!
I opted for the Swiss and mushroom burger and it was nummy for my tummy.

Hubs went with a regular bacon cheeseburger and wanted to show off the salt and pepper shakers apparently. He's odd sometimes.
Kuya and Katrina were more daring and got different kinds of meats. I was surprised to see Katrina got an Elk Burger! That's surprising because 99.9% of her meals have only chicken. She's what we'd call a picky eater. But, luckily she's not those picky eaters that I hate...she actually tries things that we offer her no matter how weird they are. Kudos, Katrina! (My Kuya can be very odd. too. Him and Hubs get along just fine.)
I'm the type that would try everything once and I bravely tried the Elk Burger. I immediately spit it out. WHAT? I spit out a burger? I must be out of my mind!! But, I just couldn't stand the gamy taste. ::shivers:: This might go on my list... you know, my food foes list.

After our trip to burger town, we decided to go to what I like to call, Grown-up Chuck E. Cheese!
Dave and Busters is a place where adults can drink their fancy cocktails, eat their fancy chicken strips, and play their fancy race car games. It's a dream, really.
We danced...like idiots.
We played trivia...like idiots. (Nothing makes your feel worse than not knowing trivial facts that everyone in the world seems to know.)
And then, I found my new favorite game!! FRUIT NINJA! HIYA!
I spent about $10 $20 playing this bad boy! It's super addicting. I mean....it has food AND I'm a ninja for the day! It's a filipino foodie's dream game!

And the best part about Dave and Busters is that you get TICKETS for real prizes! Hubs and I had enough for a blender...no lie.... but we decided to hold out for something better. I have my eye on one of those Chinese thumb trap thingys.

It was a fantabulous weekend! But the thing that made it better was knowing that I don't have work for a whole week! HIYA!!!

Wandom Wednesday: Namaste New Moon

1. New Moon- If some tween googled New Moon, I wonder if my blogpost would pop up. I hope not because there would be a boatload of disappointed Twi-hards and Twi-cougars. I was referring to the REAL new moon, the O.G! Do you see it in the sky? It looks like it's about to explode with love and energy....sorry, I just got back from yoga, more on that in a bit.

My kooky happy yoga instructor said that the New Moon marks a New Beginning. I love that idea. I'm all about new beginnings because it allows you to purge theraggity old  crap and start anew. That's sooooo yoga, isn't it?

Speaking of new moon, this new season has also got me reinventing myself. (I'm like 2 weeks too late on mentioning fall but, what the hey!)
I decorated with little pumpkins everywhere and ummm, can I just mention how AMAZING fall candles are? The smell of pumpkin spice is nose-gasmic.

This week will also mark a new year for my hubby and I. We will be celebrating our first anniversary. I'm unbelievably excited for our little getaway we have planned.
2. My Hubby- He's amazing. I'm a lucky girl because we started this super fun tradition on Wednesdays. It's called, I go to yoga and hubby makes dinner. I LOVE IT! Right now he's working so hard on dinner while I'm blogging, smelling the aromas of dinner wafting through the house....and I don't have to lift a finger!! WHOA BABY!
And look at him being all organized. He knows that his wife will freak the hell out if there's mess in her our kitchen. He learned well. He learned well.
3.Yoga time! I used to do yoga when I was in college. I loved it because it was something I chose to do alone. I didn't ask for a friend to accompany me, nor did I look for friends at the studio, this was something only for lil' ol' me! 7 years later, I am going again and my body feels challenged and my mind feels clear and enlightened. I feel new! New and improved, with better staying power. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll be doing this....

Except I will be wearing more than a diaper thong. But first I need to learn to touch my toes, which will also help with the toenail painting (man, I have to do all kinds of weird poses for that one!) and I need to learn how to balance. I can barely balance on two feet, let alone my big toe.

4. This is totally random, but a life changer for me. I found THE best shampoo and conditioner in all the land. My hair is medium thickness, semi-smooth, and what people like to call "Asian Straight." I was it about every other day or every two days, depending on how lazy I am that week. I recently started switching up my shampoos every wash so it can't get used to one product. I like to confuse the follicles. We play this game and I know they like it.

I have to admit that I'm a sucker for packaging. The fact that the bottle has the same colors as my wedding was a big selling point. This coincidence I now know to be FATE. My hair has never felt so soft. I fell like I have a new head of hair.

5. Best Damn Tacos- My hubby found his new favorite dish that I make. I can thank my awesome co-worker Kimberly for the insane recipe that had my husband going loco.

Here is the recipe. Carne Asada Tacos. I really wanted to make a whole blog post about it but I didn't really change anything. But, I assure you that these are the best Tacos I've ever made. Hubby said they were pretty amazing. He's Mexican, so he knows his tacos. (Is that stereotyping?) Slap together some salsa, squeeze some lime, and sprinkle some Mexican cheese and by golly, you have yourself the best damn tacos around!

Wandom Wednesday: Yum, Run, Snap

Yum
My week started of great! My buddy Christine invited me over to make cakepops in her brand new beautiful kitchen. How can a girl pass that up? We talked, we rolled, we laughed.... it was balls of fun. (Jokes involving balls are hard not to make here.... oh man working at a Middle School is really starting to take it's toll)
Hooray for Cute Anthro Aprons!

We made cute chocolate and white chocolate ones!
And we wrapped 'em all purdy for ourselves....seriously, we didn't plan on giving them to a single soul. These were just for us. Seriously.
Run
Speaking of fat.... I signed up for my next race. I've been itching to do it since my last one.

It's on November 13th and I'm super excited for it! I hope this'll put that fire under my bum to stay motivated to run.

Snap
Speaking of lazy. Next month will be Hubs and my ONE year wedding anniversary. We are so excited! I really thought I wouldn't be that bride that puts making their wedding album off and off and off until...whoa.. a whole year passed by. Yup... I really thought that I wouldn't be. Shame on me because our wedding photographers are AMAZING!

Go check out their blog! EPblog.

I will finish my wedding album.
I will finish my race.
I will finish those balls.

These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog barks, when the bee stings, when you're feeeeeeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad. #true story.

1. Back to my roots. As many of you know, I was born and spent a lot of my younger years in Germany. From time to time, I get a hankering for some juicy sausage. Get your mind out of the gutter. So I got us some Brats this week. My mom was so kind to buy us some German Ketchup and Red Cabbage. We paired it with some beers and I was back to my childhood.... minus the drinking beer of course.

2. Shut Eye. I haven't been sleeping well lately. Partly due to stress, partly due to the alarm clock light, and partly due to Pinterest. It also doesn't help that I sleep a lot earlier than my night owl of a husband. No matter how quietly he tries to get into bed, he disturbs me in my deep REM cycle. (BTW, did you hear that REM broke up? I didn't even know they were still a band!) And when that happens... let's just say I get a bit grouchy faced. So, to solve this dilemma, I bought a eye mask, which my hubby so affectionately calls, my face bra, and some ear plugs.

 3. Early morning workout. Today, I did the unthinkable. I actually woke up early enough to fit in a workout. ::le gasp:: I felt pretty darn good. Since I'm too chicken sh*t to go out in the early morning darkness to run, I opted for a AT&T U-verse workout video. I found this lady that I'm totally smitten with. She's not the type of video trainer that is too coo coo for coco puffs nor the type that wants to eat your soul ::cough:: Jillian ::cough:: She's super motivating and I want to save up money to hire her as my personal trainer. What do you think a trainer to the stars charges now a days?

4. Quotes that make me giggle. This is me in a nutshell. I don't allow my husband to tickle me. I will straight drop kick anyone who tries.
Source: None via Joanna on Pinterest

5. Beauty. I have the worst hand when it comes to eyeliner, specifically liquid eyeliner. But, by golly, I hit gold and found one that I LURVE!!! If you can't tell by my shotty picture, this is Loreal's Carbon Black Lineur Intense. The felt tip makes it glide on with ease.... for sheeze.
