Thursday Favorites: NOT Being on Time

I was picked to be in a jury once and Mr. Growly Bear Judge made this very clear on the first day:
If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late, and if you're late, don't bother coming.

You would think after he barked these orders no one would be late, but leave it to Ms. Ditzy Mcditzyface to come in late the next morning with a full Starbucks Frap in her hand. Ummm... "Earth to STUPID FACE! You're STUPID!"

Although I keep to his advice in my professional life, in my personal life, its a whole different story. I'm late 80% of the time. It's ALWAYS one of those things where I have MORE than enough time to get ready, yet dilly dallying gets the best of me and somehow, someway, the stars align to make me LATE. I smudge my eyeliner, Sonic throws up on the carpet, I hit every red light, it's Old People Day and everyone is driving slow.... see... the stars make me late.

So, why is this my favorite then? I'm not talking about this kind of late...
I'm talking about PRESENTS! Stay with me now...It'll all make sense in a minute...or not.

Don't you just LOVE getting presents early or late? I guess I could've just opened this post with that.
WHOMP WHOMP...

Hubby's birthday was in February, but he got this birthday present from his amazing wife.... last week.

I don't know about you, but he doesn't look sad to me. I think the point of this story is... it's not always bad to be late. Right? It's like an extended birthday. He got the HP Touchpad which is like the Ipad but BETTER! Did I say that right, Hubby?

My birthday is on July 18th (YEAH!) at 4:23am (I'm just kidding, I have no idea what time I was born) but I got my present from my amazing husband....last week.

I. am. happy. It's never too early for birthday presents!!!

Now I understand many avid readers, btw I'm not an avid reader, HATE Kindles
**Ahem** Christine**Ahem** but I found it was appropriate for me. I don't tend to hold on to my paperback books very long, and if I do they collect dust under my bed. Sure, I'll still buy and keep pretty hardcovers of classic novels, but things like "How to Stop Being a Lazy Bunghole" isn't something I want chillin' on my shelves for my guests to see.

Now let's ::swoon:: together over cute Kindle covers!

  2. That is a saying we get all the time for music rehearsals- if you're early, you're on time; if you're on time you're late! Good advice, but so hard to follow!

Everything on Etsy is cute!! But I like the one from momandmia (?) the best. Enjoy your birthday gift!

  3. Hahaha you're too funny, Joanna, and I was wondering where you were bringing this!

I do like gifts late..and early. Maybe a little more towards late-ish. Lol. And I've never used a Kindle so I don't really have an opinion on that. It is good that your guests won't see a novel like that though!!! LOL.

My fav case is probably the green spiraly one or the one with the envelopes!! :D

  4. Sigh. If you weren't my friend I'd leave you a really long, slightly-snotty comment about how important the physicality of books are. But you are, so I won't. One more sigh for good measure: sigh.

I'm not a late person at all, but I'm loving that "clock!" And I agree- sometimes it's fun to get a gift late because then it's like getting a gift for no reason at all, which is randomly awesome.

I know how you feel about books Christine, I'm the same way about music. I need to go to a record store and physically walk out with a cd/record.

  7. Thank you Sergio, the husband I've heard so much about! My husband feels the exact same way- he's even started collecting some vinyl for some reason.

  9. I've been thinking about getting my son a Kindle - he goes through books like crazy and being a boy loves all electronic gadgetry... ! :D For now, we're just getting good use out of our library card! :) I definitely prefer to be early/on time and stress about getting places on time so usually arrive 15 minutes early. If I'm NOT running early I stress about being late the whole way there... I'm a worrier... go figure! :D

  10. I tend to be a little late with gifts on a pretty regular basis if I have to ship them somewhere. But I always make up for it by sending an awesome gift...right...yeah...it is always awesome!

I love all of the Kindle covers. I can't even choose.

  12. I like to sleep, but I have realized recently something about myself. What I do ( to be exact)...

When I have some plans, I always have to plan the exact time ( hour and minute) when I leave the house, what time I will get to place I am heading to.

When I am seeing my friends, I very often tell them what time I'll meet them, like 10.43 am

Of course sometimes I am late, especially when I have to go to my classes. :D (because its not something I've planned, I guess)

  13. Oh, I am so much of an early bird! I never want to waste anyone's time... especially mine :-)

And nope, I don't have a kindle. And probably won't get one. Love the feel of a book in my hands :-)

    Happy Monday Dear!

  14. I love my kindle and I love real books so I do both. The Great Expectations cover is just adorable. My simple hand made cover may be put to rest for one of those :)
