Baby Joaquin: 6 and 7 Month Update

My little Joaquinnie pants is now 7 months old.  These past two months have been so much fun for our little family because Joaquin has developed his little personality and has hit so many milestones. Right now, he is an adventurous baby boy. His favorite thing to do is crawl around the house following Sonic around. As you can imagine, Sonic does not approve of this, but he's a good sport about it and doesn't get mad but instead he rather calmly, yet irritatedly walks away. I'm always in close quarters just in case he decides to get crazy....and when I say he I mean both Joaquin and Sonic.

He also loves to navigate his way under, over, and through different things. Hence, this adorable picture with his playmat on his back. I don't know HOW he did this.

Other milestones include celebrating his first Mother's and Father's day,

riding on his first train,
going to the beach and the pool, lookin' all cool,

and being a big boy and feeding himself.

I'm just so proud of my smart baby boy. I can't get enough of him. I'm sure you can tell from the millions of pictures.

Here's a few other stats.

Size: He weighed in at 17 pounds during his 6 month check up. He has to be 18-19 now. He is wearing 9-12 month clothes now, mainly because he is in the 90th percentile in height.
Tall like Daddy!

Eating: I have been pureeing food like a maniac mom...a momiac. He's been eating sweet potato, zucchini squash, sweet peas, and bananas. We are limiting his fruits to one type a month  so he doesn't develop a sweet tooth and ditch his veggies. He still eats his brown rice cereal and I've put him back on baby oatmeal for breakfast. He is no longer allergic to the wheat. Yay!

Sleeping: UGH! The thorn in my sleepy paw. He is now back to waking up two times a night to eat. I've tried everything from giving him a pacifier to letting him cry (my heart can only take so much crying, you know.) and nothing but a bottle seems to work. I've done a bit of reading and all signs point to nighttime hunger. It stays consistent with his daytime feeding time frames, every  4 hours. He wakes up at midnight, then again at 4 am, then he wakes up for good at 6, but isn't hungry until 7. It's draining but Thank God I'm on summer vaction. Once, I brought him into bed with me at 6 in the morning and magically he fell back asleep. He has yet to do this again.

Next up: Summertime fun with Mommy! This might be the best summer yet.

Those Crazy Kids

This weekend I was lucky enough to spend time with this face.
We celebrated my nephew Sebby's 4th birthday. My my how time flies. It was only yesterday that I was pinching these little chipmunk cheeks.
(It looks like hubby doesn't have fingers, but I assure you he does have all 10.)

Now, this growing cherub can talk in complete sentences, count higher than some of my first graders ever could, and has my dad's iPhone password memorized so he can access the camera and take a gratuitous amount of pictures of our feet and nose hairs. Next thing you know he'll be graduating from college and becoming President of the United States. ::le sigh::

For his birthday, I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to dip these balls in chocolate. So difficult! Any tips on how to get them to stop falling off the damn stick would be greatly appreciated.

Since his birthday was pirate themed, I attempted these guys. They kinda sorta look like pirates, right?
After we scarfed down cake and chocolate balls, Sebby hired me as his personal Nerf Gun reloader. His muscles are too weak to reload the Nerf gun, so I spent a good hour doing it for him... and then doing it again and again and again. I cherish these moments because one day, he will be a teenager who will not need my help on little things like this. ::double le sigh::

On a different note, wouldn't that be nice if the biggest problem in your day was having to reload darts back into your Nerf Gun? I will trade that in for getting up at 5:30 for work ANYDAY!

Last week, I let my students write their 2012 resolutions. They are definitely living the simple life. I am jelly. I want to stress about these kinds of things instead of adult things like making sure to scrub the tub once a week. I can never remember.

I let them choose their own fonts. This kid felt a little Ol' School. He's kickin' it Gothic Style.

Instead of running a 10K, I will be changing it to "Eating Hot Cheetos ZERO times a year, instead of once a year." Those things are deadly. Not just for your tummy, but for the skin of your fingertips and everything around you that is white.

Oh, those Crazy Crazy Kids.

Eureka! Weekend Recap.

I went to my high school reunion this weekend. It wasn't what I thought it would be, maybe because I had Romy and Michelle in my head on the way there.
Unfortunately, my expectations of seeing that weirdo from my class who is now a Multi-Millionaire, or seeing the former Ms. Popular now sporting kankles, was not met at all. I think this was partly due to the fact that only 30 out of the 400 students from my class actually showed. Talk about school spirit.
I still showed my school spirit! And I wore an embarrassing picture of my High School self. I haven't changed a bit, except my acne has finally subsided. THANK GOD!

But, I was still in good company and made the most out of it. I DID get to see some of my friends and that made up for it all. Oh and yes, there was a montage of pictures from good ol' 2001. I feel old because I don't remember taking any of those pictures. Here's another Mall Shot.
If you tell, I'm the dark shadow behind the white girl. See my teeth glistening in the light? My friend, Nicole and I had a good laugh at this one. Fast forward 10 years and my skin magically lightened.
It was so nice to catch up with old friends....

My cooking buddy Nolan! We were in Foods class together!

The Beautiful Bride to Be Crysal! So exciting!
I loved introducing everyone to my wonderful Hubby. So proud to flaunt this cutie pie!
On Sunday, my Kuya's friends from Washington came down. We had so much fun wine tasting...

San Antonio Winery

Taking this crazy Kookoo to the nearby "farm."
Watching him play in the water spouts....

The face of pure joy
And finally...Eureka!...burgers.

This place is truly LEGIT! The meat, the bread, the beer, the fries....all AMAZING!
Such a wonderful weekend of good food and friends! Love it when that happens!
  • What did you do this weekend?

Wandom Wednesday

1. I miss my pupster Sonic. He is staying with my Kuya for awhile. Our family dog Keiko is getting old now and when she's around Sonic, she seems to really perk up. My Kuya and I want her live out her life as happy as can be.
How I got this to stay in his mouth is beyond me. He usually eats anything that close to his mouth.
2.
Me: Sebby is our baby boy!
Sebby: I'm not a baby!
Me: Then what are you?
Sebby: I'm CUTE!

3. Peek-a-blue in my Target Shoes! As happy as I am that summer is coming to an end... more specifically the hellish temperatures, I'm going to miss my bright colored nail polishes.

4. My favorite TV chef is Giada, HANDS DOWN. She's pretty, she's talented, and she's a barrel of smiles. She gained extra points on her new episode when she made Adobo, a filipino dish. I made it last week and tweeted her.. She tweeted me back :) I'd like to say that it made my year, but I think that would make me a crazy person.

5. I found an easy dinner option for wives that don't want to cook some elaborate meal. Add some pasta, veggies of your choice, olive oil, and Parmesan and you got yourself some din din.
I really miss having buku time to make fancy feast for Project Wifey Wife. Tomorrow I have plans to actually make a fun dessert...let's see if that actually takes place. ::crosses fingers::
6. Saturday is my 10 year High School Reunion. And you guessed it... in HS I was a big fat nerd. This is an embarrassing picture of me and my hs buddy. Apparently we loved taking mall pictures...and were outlaws...so says our shirts. ::WHAT THE HELL WERE WE THINKING?!::

Daddy's Day Recap

Top Five Reasons why I love my Daddy!
1. He is my hero. He is a retired Warrant Officer WHOOP WHOOP! His hard work and sacrifice through the years allowed us to travel the world, live comfortably while saving for our future, and it allowed my brother and I  to attend college for FREE! He taught me to be a hard worker with amazing work ethic.

2. He is NICE. One of the things my brother and I love about my dad is that he can get along with ANYONE. If you leave him on a bench at the mall, he will have made friends with anyone around him. My brother and I have the confidence to small talk to anyone because of this.

3. He can fix anything! I have high expectations for my Hubby. Growing up, my dad was able to fix anything from my broken toy to the family car. He is MAGIC!

4. He plays golf better than Tiger Woods! And that's a FACT!

5. He is strong! About 3 years ago, my dad had to undergo surgery.  That night after his surgery, he wanted out of that hospital. The doctors couldn't believe how strong he was because he literally forced himself out of bed to walk around. By the next day, he was walking and proved to all of us that his mind is stronger than his body. Thankfully, he is all better now.
I love you Daddy!
This weekend was food filled fun. I guess that's not so different from my other weekends, but we did celebrate my daddy, so that's different. The Kuya and I planned a fabulous Lunch for our Favorite Dad!
Katwina made my dad's favorite salad dressing from Olive Garden, my Kuya made his favorite dessert which is Banana Bread, and I made this.
Came out DELISH! My dad is a hard person to please when it comes to food. I think he really liked this meal!

I think Sebby even liked it.

If you're wondering where my Hubby is, he was out fishing with his dad. They went on an overnight fishing trip out at sea. I was worried that he would be caught in a storm or something, but he was A-OKay! I never knew this, but my Hubby is the best fisherman. He caught 15 FISH! HOLY NEMO!

He's so sweet, he brought home the fish-bacon and knew that I would make something amazing.
Anyone have any great fish recipes?
The only thing that I HATE about him being a great fisherman, is that I had to scale these bad boys. These fish are EVIL!!! I pierced myself 5 times with their scaly and sharp weaponry! My mom was gifted some fish, too and had to work these monsters. I feel your pain Mama!!
Anywho- back to my dad. For dinner, he did his two favorite outdoor activities. He grilled up some yummy ribs and fish...
And played Golf with his two favorite boys.
Hubby and I watched...
While Kuya took Funny Breaks with Katwina and Sebby.

Yes, my Kuya is an odd one.
Inside, we had some special visitors. My Auntie Irene and Uncle Mike! I Love them. They are so much fun!
Then, it was CHOW TIME!
I would've taken more pictures, but I was too busy eating. Don't bother me when I'm eating...I'll bite your head off.
