Yipee! Trimester Three!

Can my cheeks BE any bigger? Let's hope not.

How far along? 27 weeks. Some sites say I'm in my third trimester. WHOA!
Total weight gain: Not gonna tell!
Maternity clothes? Found some great work capris at Gap Maternity for $14. I will be wearing them everyday. Think my students will notice?
Stretch marks? Still rubbing on my Belly Butter and it's working like a charm.
Sleep: Sleep is good. Taking longer and deeper naps which is bad considering I go back to work next week. I will miss you, Naps!
Best moment this week: Getting my haircut. The heat is not my friend so getting the hair away from my neck is a dream!
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back, sushi, and fitting into my old pants.
Movement: Baby is kicking, flipping, and hiccuping a lot still.
Food cravings: Veggies! This is great. Hopefully I wont back on too much more weight.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing at the moment
Gender predictions: This week I've been getting a lot of people saying it's a boy.
Labor Signs: I think I had some Braxton Hicks this week. Not sure.
Symptoms: Major swelling in my legs. Had to go to the hospital. No fun.
Belly Button in or out? Half flat and half out. It's a Floutie!
Wedding rings on or off? Rockin' my 1.5 carat of fakeness. I miss my real rings.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy with a chance of moody. Depends on the day.
Looking forward to: I'm not sure at the moment but I'm NOT looking forward to going back to work with this heat wave.

I've been swollen. Can you tell? No like REALLY swollen. This heat has caused my legs and ankles to swell up real good. This week it got pretty scary because only one leg decided to swell, which is dangerous sometimes. Apparently, this could mean I might have blood clots which is common in pregnancy. Did not know that.

Last Friday, I had enough. It was painful to walk and my friends and family were starting to notice, so I decided to call the Doctor. They told me to go into Labor and Delivery right away! I didn't think it was that serious until they admitted me, strapped my belly up to the monitors, and ordered a series of blood tests and ultrasounds.
I was there for almost 5 hours. The good thing was that I was strapped to a fetal monitor and got to hear my baby's heartbeat  the whole time. It was music to my ears. I could listen to that forever.

The bad thing was I was there for 4 hours WAITING on results, WAITING for them to do ultrasounds on my legs, and WAITING for my phone to get reception so I could call my hubby. He was so freaked out that he rushed to me from work because he hadn't heard from me since I was admitted. I was also very hungry. If I knew I was going to be waiting that long I would've packed a burger in my purse.

Thank God everything turned out to be ok. The ultrasounds and blood tests came out fine. The doctor said it might be a combination of the heat and the way the baby is sitting. I also have Scoliosis which could have something to do with it. The pressure of all the weight is no good for my sensitive back.

I've made a few changes since then that seem to help the swelling situation.
1. Wearing compression socks- They are supposed to help with the circulation  in your legs and help prevent fatigue.

 2. Belly Support- This is going to be a lifesaver since I'll be on my feet all day. It very much relieves the pressure on my back and legs.

.via.
3. More Water, Less Salt- I've really been watching my sodium intake. No more fries or chips for this preggo. I've been guzzling water like a fish, too and it's been working wonders for my new kankles. I hate my new kankles.

Hope none of you are experiencing this, but if you do, hope this helps.

Red, White, and Blue in the Face

This weekend (and every other weekend) I do this thing where I let everything about myself go on rest mode. I sleep in, I don't do any hardcore cleaning, and I pretend that calories are some made-up lie that the devil created to make us unhappy. I eat to my little tummy's content...well... I eat until my little tummy is about to throw up my insides. ::le sigh::

I love food. I hate food. I love food. I hate food.

This weekend I over did it. I didn't think you could feel DRUNK off of food, but leave it to me to get NOM NOM WASTED! I saw, I ate, I conquered and now I feel like that little hussy doing the walk of shame home at 8 in the morning, hair a-frazzled, feeling regret, guilt, and like a food whore.

Here's what I remember before I blacked out from my self-induced food binge.

I am ashamed. (I didn't eat this all in one sitting, btw)

But the good thing about this thing we call life, is that we have more days that the Lord has blessed us with, to recoup and repent.

Here is what I do to make up for a food filled weekend:
1. Forgive myself and move on. Can't feel sorry for myself for too long or I will eat myself into a depression. No lie. I'm an emotional eater.

2. Plan for the days ahead. I sit down with my planner and stuff each day silly with fruits and vegetables and things that will make my body happy and healthy. I plan each meal to the very last morsel so I will be less likely to stray.

3. Workout. UGH! Boy do I hate working out when I feel guilty. I cried this morning when Jillian on the DVD yelled at me. I must work off the bad food vibes that I put in my body!

4. Load up on Green Monsters. Spinach is a super food that can help your body recover!

5. No punishment. I don't believe in self-abuse. I'm not going to deprive myself of anything. Eat in moderation. We all know exactly what we need to do to make our bodies strong and healthy. Do your best.

Let's hope for a healthy week. I hope I don't have a hangover.

  • Tell me one thing you do to recover from eating WAY too much.
  • Tell me one of your yummy guilty pleasures.

Cranky McCranky Pants and Thursday Favorites

Uggghhhh....I tried to stay healthy and "cold virus" free for several months now.
I've been lucky...until now.

It hit me like the plague....Gosh I hope it's not the plague.

I'm on DAY TWO of staying home sick from work. I feel kinda guilty, then I cough up a lung and feel better about the situation.

What people REALLY do when they are at home sick...
1. Whine like the biggest most annoying colicky baby that ever existed. I found myself moaning and groaning all day...even though Sonic was the only one home, I still felt the need.

2. Act like a baby and hope to God that your husband knows what to do with you. Imagine me, fetal positioned on the couch, with my hair lookin' like Toucan Sam made a nest on the top of my head, and dried up snot bubbles on my nose, crying while my husband rubs my back praying that I just get better so I can stop complaining.

I don't know what this baby is saying, but I hope it's funny.

Truth be told, I need my mommy. I need her to SHMEAR Vicks on my chest and back, check my temperature with the back of her hand to my forehead, make me her noodle soup, and whisper in my ear, "go back to sleep."

Favorite #1:  Vicks VapoRub-
Can't get enough of that cool menthol Eucalyptus smell...Feelin' all Koala Bear and stuff.

3. Roll your eyes when yet another person advises you to "Make sure you drink lots of liquids." Umm... I think that's like Cold Virus 101. I know you're right.... I will drink more water. But
Riddle me this: How am I supposed to rest if I have to get up every 15 seconds to pee?

Favorites #2- Triple Echniacea Green Tea
I usually drink this at the first signs of Virus monsters, but I ran out this time.

4. Imagine how NICE a shower would feel. That's pretty much the extent of that one. I didn't have enough energy to scrub my stinky self. Not even Sonic wanted to sit with me tonight. But thank goodness for lazy people products!

Favorite Number #3- Dry Shampoo
Spray it, Gzhhhugzhh it, and hope for the best before hubby gets home.

5. Netflix Documentaries, Lifetime movies, and Reality TV.
When you're sick you need to rest your brain. So, you might as well watch as much trash as you can right? It's not like you'll remember anything tomorrow, what with being DRUNK off of Nyquil and all.

I watched:
Solitary Confinement Don't ask me why. I just happen to like watching Prison stuff.
People are CRAY CRAY!

Babies  I kinda want a baby now....kinda not really.

Jersey Shore Again...people are CRAY CRAY!! Sammi and Roni need to BREAK UP already!!

Chopped All-Stars: I want to be a Chef that could make a gourmet dish out of Steak, fruit loops, and Capri-Suns as the Mystery Ingredients.

6. Naps. They're totally underrated and I vote for the USA to adopt Siestas!
Who's willing to sign my petition?

It's time for me to get into my Pajamas....oh wait, I never got out of them...SCORE... and take another shot of Nyquil.

We Gonn' party tonight Sandman!!
